Mountain View Skaters:
Hope you are all enjoying the summer (at least when it’s warm!). Our club has an upcoming opportunity to promote the sport and get some new members that is also full of fun things to do.

We have been invited to participate in the Nautilus FITJAM 2007 Fitness Weekend, taking place on Saturday July 14th in east Vancouver, very near to the rink (about 5 mins. east on Mill Plain. - Check out this website to see all of the activities, celebrities, displays, etc.

We’ll have a booth, all decked out with speedskating photos and flyers and we’re looking for some help in manning the booth.

We’ve also been asked to do an inline demo. This is a great opportunity for some skaters to bolt on their frames and wheels and demonstrate speedskating technique. Both of these activities would help us in our ongoing recruiting efforts and would also provide a chance for you to participate in the many other activities that Nautilus has planned. There will be coverage by local news stations, football & basketball contests, running races (on Sunday) a truckload sale, and other exhibitors offering raffle prizes.

We’re looking for three shifts of two people to work in the booth starting at 9 am and going until 3 pm. A couple could even bring their kids and take turns working in the booth while one parent takes the kids around the exhibitions. Or just hook up with a friend – we’ll even accept non-skaters as long as they speak glowingly about our club.

We’re going to be handing out coupons for a free skating session during the summer, as well as some t-shirts and other small items. We have brainstormed some of it, but if you have other suggestions for club promotion, we’re more than open to them.
